The New Hampshire Academy of Science, Inc. (NHAS) has a mission to support the scientific research of high school and middle school students and present that research to the broader scientific and local community. Functionally, we operate a STEM outreach center in Lyme, NH that is solely for middle and high school students and their teachers from NH and VT. We also have a satellite lab at the Fairbanks Museum and Planetarium in St. Johnsbury, VT and work with regional science teachers and schools to help them advance their schools’ hands-on science and engineering activities. We operate an Equipment Loan Library to loan scientific equipment, along with supplies and support, to teachers and their students in NH and VT. The NHAS also supports the attendance of student researchers at a variety of regional, national, and international science conferences.

Our Broader Mission is to:

  • further the work of scientists and future scientists in New Hampshire

  • provide a forum for scientific discussion, interaction, and collaboration with the general public through our website and conferences

  • increase public understanding and appreciation of the importance and promise of science in human welfare and progress

  • encourage authentic scientific research by having scientists mentor students in middle and high schools
